Thailand has in recent years been the No. 1 travel destination world-over and we Indians are lucky for Visa on Arrival and the close proximity which makes it easier to visit this beautiful island nation. And while South Thailand has always been popular among tourists, I have for you the perfect things to do in South Thailand other than of course Phi Phi island, Koh Samui and Phuket.
1. National Parks
Mu Ko Ang Thong National Park is an archipelago of 42 breathtaking lush green islands- a photographer’s paradise.
A day boat tour to this archipelago from Koh Samui is highly recommended. These boat tours give you various good package option combinations ( ranging 2500-3500 INR) including guided tours , complimentary lunches as well as a walk through the limestone caves and snorkeling in crystal waters.
Do take a walk down a jungle trail on the island and see the big-eyed Dusky leaf monkey and explore the limestone Buaboke caves.
When tired simply spend time on the viewpoints and the beachfront and seafood restaurants at Ko Wua Talap island in this archipelago.
Another lovely jungle reserve and especially for nature lover’s in South Thailand is the Khao Sok National Park. They have some great tour guided widlife spotting and the picteresque Wing Hin Waterfall or the Tang Nam Gorge.
2. Diving and Water Activities
Ko Tao – If you are passionate about diving then this is the perfect destination in the Gulf of Thailand accessible only by high -speed boats . Ocean Utopia, a stunning underwater installation by artist Val, in collaboration with New Heaven Reef Conservation Program is worth seeing during our dive and then there are Bull Sharks and turtles in clear waters.
Similan Island in South Thailand has the best coral reefs in all of Thailand and is a paradise for divers with barracudas, whale sharks and manta rays underwater.
For non-divers , just go and enjoy snorkeling in these clear waters.
