Malta, the little hidden gem of Europe

With a quite an unique Italian ( just 80 kms from the Italian south coast ) and British heritage, it boasts of some beautiful colonial style stone buildings similar to Rome or Venice. Add to that pristine waters all around the country with options for scuba diving, sailing or just lazing by the sea. Plus for ‘desi’ travellers – everyone speaks English along with the official ‘Maltese’ language.

Indian tourists to Malta need the same Schengen visa ( added bonus if already have or applied one ) like with most Europe travel. DesiPassport tip – apply online to save time and money. Malta is not as expensive as Paris or London ( even Rome for that matter ) so you need not buy as much Euro as you would.

May – July is the best time to travel, putting it perfectly in season during summer school breaks. Malta always has beautiful weather year round and certainly will be cooler than India during the summer.

Food is has such similarities to India, that you would hardly miss out on daal-chawal. Vegetarians need not fear – many of the national dishes including the falafel & hummus is all vegetarian.
